Q. Why
do I need 220/240v wiring for my spa
A. The
main reason for the wiring your spa / hot tub with
220V service is for the heating element. The
element draws a lot of electric current and its much
more efficient to wire the element 220v. It is very
much like the electric water heater in your home.
You would not wire your hot water heater 110v...220v
equipment is designed to pull less amps...and create
more heat...which means they are more efficent...run
cooler and be more economical to operate
Q. What if I run out
of Spa Up or Spa Down...are there any household
ingredients that can be used
A. Yes.
You may never haft to buy those expensive chemicals
again...to raise your PH or Alkalinity...use baking
soda...to lower the PH or Alkalinity...use white
distilled vinegar...also to shock your water...take
a Bromine tablet put it in a sandwich baggie...take
a hammer and smash it up in a fine power...then sprinkle
it in your water
Q. How do I measure
for the fitting size when ordering a pump
A. Spas
/ Hot Tubs are plumed in either 1.5" or 2.0" PVC
pipe...when measuring the discharge or you plumbing
...measure the hole... not the outside diameter...example
a 1.5" fittings pipe will normally measure 1
7/8"...and a 2" fittings pipe will measure
2 3/8"
Q.How do I measure the radius of a cover
A. The
radius is the curving of the cornes of a spa cover...take
a carpenters tool...place the carpenters tool at
the corner of the shell... or cover...and when the
curving stops...that will determine the radius...remember
the smaller the radius the larger the cover...so
when in doubt round back to the closest inch...example...the
radius measures 5.5 inches...round back to 5" also...
if you do not have a carpenters tool...take 2 rulers
and place them together to make a carpenters square...to
form a 90 degree angle...then when the curve stops
that will be the size of the radius
Q. How is Ozone emitted
into the spa water
A. Most
modern day Spa / Hot Tubs are ozone ready...which
means there is a designated ozone jet that has a
fitting that will allow the ozone tubing to be attached
to it
Q. What if I have an
older Spa / Hot Tub and it is not ozone ready...
can I still install an ozonator
A. Sure...its
a matter of cutting one of the tubs that feed your
jets water...then insert an ozone injecter into cut
tubing...then attach the ozone tubing onto the fitting
on the side of the injector
Q. How
do I determine what is the best horse power of
pump to order
A. There
are 2 variables to keep in mind when selecting the
house power...count the amount of water jets your
spa has...normally 6 jet or less...choose a 1 or
1.5 HP...8 to 12 jets...choose a 2 to 3 HP...and
12 to 20 jets...choose a 3 to 5 HP pump...note...check
the size of plumbing your spa/ hot tub is plumbed
with...if you spa / hot tub is plumbed in 1.5" size
pipe... try not to exceed 2 HP...too much water pressure
going through 1.5" pipe may cause damage to
your plumbing
Q.What if my spa/ hot
tub has a bad water / scum line... is there anything
in my household that will safely clean the scum
line
A. Sure...
lower the water level a few inches below the scum
line...then use good old baking soda...take some
baking soda and apply it on a sponge and scrub the
scum line...baking soda is a fine abrasive which
should aid in removing the stain without damaging
the surface...and baking soda can also be used to
raise the PH of your spa water...so don't worry if
some of the baking soda residue happens to gets into
your spa water
